Why do we renovate old houses?
There is certainly a romantic element or even a dream like quality about renovating an old property. Phrases such as 'returning a building to it's former glory' and 'breathing life back into an old community' are often used to help explain why such projects are undertaken. There are also many very practical reasons for doing so, such as taking advantage of the generous building allowances that many older properties have, or being able to locate your home within a town or village boundary, or perhaps monetary grants providing financial assistance make a project viable.

Renovating a property is very different from designing or building a new modern house - experience and know-how cannot be gained in just a couple of years, nor picked up from reading a DIY manual!
